KIDS TECHIE CLUB IN MUMBAI OFFERS SPECIALIZED COURSES TO STUDENTS ASPIRING TO PARTICIPATE IN VARIOUS INTERNATIONAL ROBOTICS COMPETITIONS. OUR COACHES AND MENTORS WILL GUIDE THEM THROUGH THE ENTIRE PROCESS. WE BELIEVE IN INCULCATING THE FUNDAMENTAL SKILL SET THAT WOULD CAPACITATE THEM IN WINNING THE COMPETITION.
Taking places in 55+ countries worldwide, an estimated 23,000 teams compete in four exciting competition categories:
REGULAR (Age Group : 9-19)
The Regular Category is a challenge based competition. Students must design, construct and program their robots to solve specific challenges on a field. Points are scored for completed tasks. The teams bring their robot completely disassembled. In the first part of the competition they will have 150 minutes to assemble their robots from loose parts without instructions. Team consists of 1 coach and 2 or 3 team members.
OPEN (Age Group : 9-19)
The Open Category is a project based competition. Students create their own intelligent robotics solution relating to the current theme of the season. Teams will present their project and their robot model to a group of judges on the competition day. A team consists of 1 coach and 2 or 3 team members.
WRO FOOTBALL (Age Group : 10-19)
With WRO Football we introduced a fun and exciting game with teams of two autonomous robots playing football (soccer). Every year little changes are introduced for the game to motivate the students to keep on developing their robots. The teams bring their robot completely disassembled. In the first part of the competition they will have 120 minutes to assemble their robots from loose parts without instructions. A team consists of 1 coach and 2 or 3 team members.
ADVANCED ROBOTICS CHALLENGE (Age Group : 17-25)
The Advanced Robotics Challenge (ARC) is our newest category. The games are designed to test older and more experienced student’s engineering and programming skills to the limit. A team consists of 1 coach and 2 or 3 team members.
Local and National WRO Tournaments are organized by National Organizers in each member country. All member countries qualify teams that are invited to participate in the annual international WRO final
First Competitions are enquiry based programs teaching students in the age range of 6 to 16 about Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. Through the process Students develop ‘Core Values’ such as problem solving, critical thinking and team work.
Over the years students participating the program have been challenged based on several real-world topics such as ‘Protecting Food’, ’Supporting Elderly Community Members’, ’Natural Disasters’, etc.
FIRST® TECH CHALLENGE
It’s way more than building robots. FIRST Tech Challenge teams (10+ members, grades 7-12) are challenged to design, build, program, and operate robots to compete in a head-to-head challenge in an alliance format. Participants call it “the hardest fun you’ll ever have!”
Guided by adult Coaches and Mentors, students develop STEM skills and practice engineering principles (like keeping an engineering notebook), while realizing the value of hard work, innovation, and sharing ideas. The robot kit is reusable from year-to-year and can be programmed using a variety of languages, including Java. Teams also must raise funds, design and market their team brand, and do community outreach for which they can win awards. Participants have access to tens of millions of dollars in college scholarships. Each season concludes with Super-Regional Championships and an exciting FIRST Championship.
JUNIOR FIRST LEGO LEAGUE
It’s never too early to explore the wonders of science & technology. Jr. FLL provides this fun-filled exploring opportunity to the children of ages 6-9 years. Guided by an adult coaches, these young minds work in teams (3-6 members per team) to explore a real-world scientific challenge defined for that year’s theme. In the past seasons teams have explored & learnt about topics such as nanotechnology, climate, quality of life for the handicapped population, and transportation.
They capture this journey of exploration in a Show Me Poster and also build a Model using LEGO elements that contains at least one motorized part. Alongside this science, technology, building & programming experience, teams work with the FIRST LEGO League Jr. Core Values, which include respect, sharing, and critical thinking. Every team gets an opportunity to present & celebrate the work at official Jr. FIRST LEGO League expo.
FIRST LEGO LEAGUE
One-of-a-kind program that teaches 21st century work-life skills to students naturally with loads of FUN!! Promotes the value of Cooperation® (Learning together) and Gracious Professionalism® (Respect to all). Guided by adult mentors students in team of 2-10 members are expected to conduct inquiry based research & innovate solution for real-world problems such as food safety, recycling, energy, etc.
Teams need to Design, construct and program an autonomous robot using LEGO MINDSTORMS platform to compete on table-top playfield. Present their solutions (Project & Robot Design) along with team work (Core Values) in a creative way to judges.
